On 9 August 2026, on the occasion of International Indigenous Day (Vishwa Adivasi Divas), Health Promotion Trust (HPT), at the invitation of Sr. Neerja Maguluri, Coordinator, was privileged to address a gathering of nearly 200 migrant Adivasi community members at Good Shepherd Convent, Four Bungalows, Andheri West. The gathering provided an opportunity for the community to come together to commemorate the day and celebrate their rich cultural identity, heritage, and traditions, while strengthening a sense of belonging and pride in their indigenous roots.
The session, titled “From Cultural Pride to Workplace Rights: Building Dignity and Well-being,” by HPT members Fr. Rocky Banz (Director) and Mrs. Sharon Rodrigues, HPT Program Coordinator, focused on strengthening awareness of the community’s cultural identity, dignity, rights, and overall well-being. The programme provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of preserving cultural pride while also understanding and asserting workplace rights. It emphasized that dignity, equal opportunities, awareness of rights, and respect for cultural identity are essential for building a healthy, empowered, and resilient community, ultimately contributing to the promotion of both physical and mental well-being.
