HPT’s Health Rally at Dharavi Island

On July 25, 2026, a momentous event took place for 200 participants from Dharavi Island at Our Lady Sea Uttan Church Hall, celebrating the Health Promotion Trust's Annual Health Rally. This occasion acknowledged the achievements of HPT in the field of preventive healthcare on the Island. The assembly included speeches from Rev. Fr. Edward Jacinto, Dean of Bhayander Denary and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Nazareth Church, Bhayander; Rev. Fr. Lesli Malaya, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Sea Church, Uttan; Rev. Fr. Rocky Banz; Director of HPT; Sr. Christel Tusacno (SRA), Director of Navneet Samaj Kendra; and Sr. Vinaylata (SRA), Coordinator of Suryodaya Samaj Kendra, who collectively supported HPT's initiatives in preventive healthcare. A significant highlight of the program was a presentation by Mr. Edward Walker, a representative of the CBCI Health Commission, who emphasized the significance of positive mental health. The event also featured a detailed documentary on HPT's outreach efforts on the Island, along with various activities such as skits, chair exercises, and testimonials from among the 180 members who earned the barefoot health worker certificate, indicating their readiness to share knowledge within their families and communities. We are delighted to report that the nutritional support program launched by HPT received considerable acclaim from attendees, who acknowledged the advantages of the immunity booster powder introduced during the COVID-19 initiative. This program not only benefited its recipients but also functioned as a self-sustaining income generation project for the self-help group associated with Suryodaya Samaj Kendra, Gorai.
